Shakespeare is our life
The first time I heard of Shakespeare was sitting in my 9th grade English class. That year was hard for me in so many ways. New school, new expectations, my mom went back to work after taking 20 years off and she came to work at the high school I went to. That meant I had to be on good behavior or the whole school would find out what happens to me for punishment. The last thing was my English teacher, the problem you may ask , well I knew him since I was 5 years old. I always knew him as fun loving Pete, not you are going to do what I want Mr Durbin. Little did I know he would include Shakespeare and my favorite author in his class. He assigned for us to read out loud during our class Julius Caesar. I was captivated by how this happened in history and it was happening now two or still in the twentieth century. The second time I did something with Shakespeare was a play within a play. The play was death by chocolate (please it's not what you think) the play within was Romeo and Juliet. Awww young love so precious and so deadly at times. When a teen breaks up with their boyfriend it feels like it's the end of the world. My favorite though is when mom or dad sit there and say no way are you see him or her because you can do so much better than him, or they are not from the right family. Yes that still happens today believe it or not. I hope I don't do that to my son, but you always want the best for your children. My favorite Shakespeare play though is A Midsummer Night's Dream. I usually don't go for comedies, but Puck won me over, that crazy sprite. My question is does that really happen? If I had to sum up my life in Shakespeare it would be Romeo and Juliet, I'm a hopeless romantic, even though I haven't been lucky in that department. Who knows maybe someday my Romeo will come into my life.
